How to disable UAC (User Account Control)
If you hate the User Account Control warning popups and want to disable it:
- Click on the "Start" Menu (bottom left on the toolbar)
- Go to "Start Search" directly above the "Start" button
- Type in "User Accounts" and you'll see it come up just above
- Click on "User Accounts"
- Click on "User Account Control on or off"
- Uncheck "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer"
- Click "OK".
Unfortunately when you disable UAC, a balloon warning will always pop up in your Systray (bottom right icons in your toolbar) when you turn on your computer. If you wish to disable this warning:
- Click on the "Start" button
- In the "Start Search" area just above the "Start" button, type in "Security Center"
- Click on "Security Center" (above) and you'll see "Windows Security Center" pop up.
- Click on "Change the way Security Center alerts me" (last option in the left panel)
- You will have the option to click on "Don't notify me, but display the icon" or "Don't notify me and don't display the icon (not recommended)".
- Pick one of the options and you're done!
This tip is entirely up to you and totally reversible if you're uncomfortable about your decision.
