Windows Sidebar Disappeared!

If for some reason your Windows Vista Sidebar disappears all you have to do is:

  1. Click on the "Start" button (bottom left on the toolbar)
  2. In the "Start Search" box just above the "Start" button, type "sidebar"
  3. You will then see "Windows Sidebar" above.
  4. Click on "Windows Sidebar" and you will have your sidebar back!

To have Windows Sidebar available every time you start your computer, just right-click in an empty area of the sidebar and click on "Properties".  The Windows Sidebar Properties dialogue box will appear.  Make sure that "Start Sidebar when Windows starts" is checked.  Every time you start your computer, your sidebar will be there waiting for you.

* If your Search Indexing Service has been disabled or for some reason you can't get it to show up by following the steps above, just do this:

  1. Click "Start" button
  2. Click "All Programs"
  3. Navigate to "Accessories" and click on it
  4. Click on "Windows Sidebar"
