How to Zip Files

There will be times when you have several files you wish to zip into one compressed file.  This makes it easier to email to a friend or transport on your USB drive.  This is the way to do it.

  1. Select the file or files you wish to zip (click in an empty area and drag your cursor accross them or keep your finger on the Ctrl button and single-click on each of them)
  2. Right-click on one of the selected files
  3. Navigate to "Send to"
  4. Click on "Compressed (zipped) folder, (at the top of the slide-out menu)
  5. Rename it to whatever you like

Now you're ready to send them to a friend or transport them.

If you want to unzip a file, all you have to do is:

  1. Double-click on it. This opens up a window showing the contents of the zip file.
  2. Navigate to "Extract all files" (third icon from the left just above)
  3. A dialogue box pops up where you can browse to a new location to deposit your the contents of your zip file, or you can choose to keep the default location, which is the same place your original zip file is in.
  4. Click on "Extract", and that's it!
